I remember singing this as a pre-teen, thinking how daring the radio station was being, playing a song with those lyrics (yes it was AM and I was naive!)
When I was 34 and belting it out in front of my husband (off-key, of course) he looked at me with disbelief and said "you're joking, right?" I was naturally bewildered, thinking I couldn't be wrong after all these years. I tried to convince him it made sense, but of course, the lyrics don't lie.
I do think mine make much more sense though!
