The story:
Well, the song came out roughly three years before the movie "Forrest Gump" came out, but the book, which also featured the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, came out in 1991, as did this song. So for a while, it made perfect sense to me that these lyrics would be placed in this song, especially since Bubba was black and Forrest was white. But later I learned what the real lyrics were, and now the allusion to the KKK makes more sense than the supposid allusion to Forrest Gump.
