The story:
I'd heard the song as background noise for years. One afternoon in the shop I got around to actually sort of half listening. Knew I couldn't have heard this right, but the visions invoked were so intriguing that I didn't care. Finally got around to looking up the real words on a www lyric server. Still like my version better (and even modestly wrote an extra verse around it just in case our band ever decides to cover this one.)
