I'd been singing it wrong in bands for years, kind of smooshing over that line and never got caught. Then I saw a John Fogerty special and caught the lyric accurately, as I belted out the wrong one in the presence of my wife (also a singer). That hurt!
By the way, in one chorus, John sang the "Bathroom On The Right" lyric, just for gigles :-)
