This was actually my friend's sister who thought it was Gumby. Back when the song was new, someone told her that's what the Aussies call VW's. So she got a license plate frame made for her old bug that said "Diana's Fried out Gumby." Later, my friend inherited the car, and some guys were yelling to us on the freeway, asking what a Fried out Gumby was. We were pretty sure she was wrong, but how do you explain that at 65 MPH?
