The story:

The first time I remember listening to the song and
messing up the lyrics was around 2001/2001.

I always thought this was the correct lyrics since
then. It was not until I got R.E.Ms album Out of
Time and read the correct lyrics then listened to
the song again and could hear the right lyrics from
then on.
