I was quoting the song for some friends and strangers in a bar, for some unlikely and forgotten reason (remember, we were at a bar...). The people I knew at the table just added another nail to my coffin, whereas the people i didn't know looked at me like I was just let loose from a mental institution... I'm still a little embarrased whenever I hear the song... (But hey, it made perfect sense that he couldn't go out when he was in the studio recording!)
