I looked up the lyrics randomly online and doublechecked several sites. Think about it. Rome was the center of Cinecetta(sp?) studios, which had just been winning huge acolades for Sergio Leone movies such as Once Upon a Time in Mexico. It *is* conceivable since these were the highest-grossing films in Italian history that Ford had plenty of Italian friends in spirit like Leone in that city... since a huge cottage industry of spaghetti westerns was founded at the same time.
