While chatting with friends about the the movie "The Commitments" where one of the characters is caught in his own mondegreen (words to the Whiter Shade of Pale), I asked what the significance of "a seagull basted in wine" might be. Is there any relationship between the Conquistidor's killing and eating the seagull to the seafarers killing of the fabled albatross? It was all VERY deep. There was a long pause, and then the questioning began. Within a minute, 20 years of mangled lyrics went down the drain to the laughter of all assembled.
