For a long time I was convinced that the singer was saying it wrong (or didn't know how to drive). Then it was on the radio one day in my friend's car and, stupid me, I asked her why anyone would drive with their left foot on the accelerator. She laughed so hard she nearly drove off the road, and continues to make fun of me to this day.
