I first heard this older folk song when I was thirteen. Many times I listened to this song while stoned, and I thoroughly convinced myself that the Kingston Trio must have been on it themselves when they changed the traditional lyrics (which I did not know) to reach out to a more diversified audience. When I was sixteen, I finally decided to search out the original lyrics to this song. I still like the weed version better.
