For years I had been at a complete loss as to what was actually being sung, since I knew what I had been hearing couldn't possibly be correct. But for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what was right from just listening. Finally when I was with my dad and the song came on the radio, I asked him since he's a huge CCR fan, and he told me the correct words.
