Okay, trust me, the story is funnier than the misheard. When my friend and I were about ten or so, we were singing it for no reason. I actually sang the real version, but she convinced me that it was "feather" because "the song is about Indians." she told me. I was stupid enough to actually believe her until a few years ago I saw the lyrics and I started laughing in her face that she was wrong.
