The story:

Ever since I first heard the song during a jazz dance performance, I thought these were the lyrics. They made perfect sense to me. Then, one day, as I was playing Rock Band, I discovered the real lyrics. It had never occured to me before that mine might possibly be wrong. Thankfully, I never sang the song to anyone one and I never tried to tell anyone what it said.
