The story:
My room-mate commented on how stupid the lyric "I laughing" was (there is an English grammar teacher deep in his soul). "No, no", says I, "they're saying 'die laughing', not 'I laughing' ", which was more agreeable to him. Later, after carefully listening to the song on the radio, we conceded that there is no way Simon and Garfunkel are singing our more grammatically correct version.
