Real Lyric Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir...

Song Lady Marmalade (Click for more)
The story:

This would be a good place to remark that this line is some of the very worst French ever foisted upon an unsuspecting public. It reads like it was written by somebody who had one year of high-school French and got C minuses. If that good. He was thinking in English the whole time.

Why would anyone address a sex partner with the formal "vous?" Who's Marmalade bedding -- the King of France?

The writer was unaware that going to bed in French is a reflexive verb: you put yourself to bed -- "se coucher."

I'd also plump for saying "at my place" rather than "with me" -- "chez moi" rather than "avec."

So the correct answer to the above proposition is "Not until you master a better grade of French." For those in the know, the entire sentence is an identifier of the utterly clueless.

Better grammatical virtue that still scans if you stretch a syllable in "coucher" would be something like:

"Veux-tu te coucher chez moi, ce soir?..."
