The story:

I got the wrong lyric by Googling the chords for Clampdown. The top hit is great for the chords (A-A-D-D-G-G-A A-A-A-A-D-A!), but have the above mistake. I found out they were wrong when my wife (who met The Clash on tour in the 80s) laughed at me for singing them. OK, i get it: "get along". Like herding cattle. Look, not everybody's a hipster.
