Well, I never thought it strange that Sammy Davis, Jr. would be mentioned in a song about soul music. Even though he didn't sing soul music, he was still a popular and influential black singer, so it didn't surprise me that another black singer would pay homage to him. However, I found it weird that the line was followed by, "Ah, don't they look great, y'all." I thought, "Who's 'they'? Was the singer counting Sammy's glass eye as another person?"
