Cher was topping the charts. My very young daughter and niece were playing in the backyard singing Cher's latest hit. Not only did they think Cher was singing about freedom, they also believed the Partridge Family wanted to be pointed in the direction of Albert's Turkey, not Albuquerque. Being a mother, I thought their versions were very cute. And what a great way to embarrass them now that they are older.
