It was the only sense I could make of that line (round here, we pronounce "garage" as "garrij") as I transcribed the lyrics from a tape for the band I was in to cover. I'd told the singer to do the line as I'd heard it, and we did this song in public many times before the truth came out via the fledgeling Internet.
To make it worse, our singer had a very clear voice, and pronounced "garage" with a long A and soft G. What else could we do? Drop the song from our repetoire because of one lousy line I couldn't get my head round?
