My fiancé and I were registering for wedding gifts and we really wanted new sheets. Since we often quote song lyrics to each other, I sang "I'm not talking 'bout the linen" and
sent him into gales of laughter. He'd known the proper lyrics since his cover band played it at Chicago weddings and bar mitzvahs twenty years ago. My version makes as much sense as the real lyrics, in the context of the song. It's like, "I'm not proposing! We don't have to register for linens!"
