The story:

I first heard the song as a child listening to my parents' music. For years, I sang the song as "Have you got chili on your mouth" and it apparently went unnoticed. However, one day when I was much older, my mom and I were driving and the song came on the oldies station and I asked, in all sincerity, why this guy was singing about her looking at other men and then randomly asking her if she had chili on her mouth. I rationalized that if I were with my boyfriend, I would hope I could trust him enough to tell me if I had chili on my mouth, but when my mom heard it, she lost it. It continues to be a running joke within my family, and any time we have a family dinner or get together, it never fails that someone asks me if I have chili on my mouth.....(I still maintain that is really what he is saying, however....:)
