The story:
The day camp that my parents had stuck me in for the summer (named "Teepee Club", despite its lack of Native American tents) had a never-ending jukebox, where we could select the 45 RPM record (!) to be played. One of the choices was "Song Sung Blue", and I finally heard the lyrics in their full glory.
Previously, my only exposure to this song had been from one of those K-Tel record commercials that only played the one line.
