The story:
I was with some friends, and we were all singing along, when it got to that part, they sang the correct version, and I sang mine...they stop, looked and said, "What did you say?". When I answered, they all laughed out loud and even pretended to be "one winged doves", saying something about a mental image. I could only say, "Well, it fits..."

My sweetheart told me, "You know the song that goes, 'just like a one-winged dove'? I used to think that was 'just like a word ranger'! Isn't that funny?" Well, it's even funnier than he thought--double misheard. I especially appreciate this since I am an editor by trade, and I'm grateful for Stevie Nicks's lack of clarity, which gave him this romantic image of rangers out there making the world safer for words, an image which I can only hope to live up to..."oo, oo, oo!"
