The story:

Augie Doggie was a Hanna-Barbera cartoon character - his "Dear Old Dad" used to speak like Jimmy Durante. I don't think I ever really knew what the real lyrics were until I looked it up to submit this. I just knew there was no reason why Elton John would want to speak like Jimmy Durante in the first place, much less suddenly decide to stop.
