Um, about 5 minutes ago, when I read someone else's misinterpretation. Honestly, I always thought that part was in reference to some moochy friend (we all knew one in college) who always shows up at a party empty-handed and proceeds to sponge off everyone else who did bring food/drink/substances. I even had a particular friend in mind every time I heard this part of the song.
