Its not quite a realization thing. For years I've heard them sing "toaster" instead of "dust clouds." I didn't think toaster was right, but I couldn't figure out what the real lyric could be or might have been.
In many ways I think the line "I see the toaster disappear without a trace." sounds a LOT more interesting actually...don't you think?
