The story:

It was a slow, gradual thing. I first heard the song as a kid, so the nonsense of the lyric had never really occurred to me. It seems an easy mistake to make, considering it's perfectly homophonic! Anyway, as a teenager, I think, I heard the song again and realized what I thought it said made no sense and figured out what the real meaning was. But I thought it was funny; I mean, it is pretty handy to have a second motion sitting around. Maybe that makes sense if the song were about an attorney or something.
