Haoles (pronounced how-lees) is Hawaiian for caucasians. My nephew, being part Hawaiian, had heard this word from an early age. One day when he was about 7 the family heard him singing his rendition of this Creedence classic and everyone burst out laughing. He thought it was about a bunch of white kids singing and playing in the street.
