Over the countless years I have heard this song on the radio (even when Peter Griffin sung it horribly on FAMILY GUY), I always thought the song was a travelogue about going to Venezuela, which I now know is a lovely paradise controlled by a totalitarian regime. My sister once corrected me on the lyrics to this song when I was a young adult.
