I heard this song when I was a child and truly thought the words were 'Chat doggin' rather than 'Jive Talkin'. It did not make sense to me, but I was very young and figured I had not 'learned' what 'chat doggin' was yet.
Well, I learned the real words were 'Jive Talkin' from my boyfriend who is now my husband, when I sang the words loud and proud one day at a wedding we attended. You could practically hear the record scratch as the room silenced! My husband will never let me live that down, it has been 25 years since that moment happened!
