The story:
For reasons unknown my girlfriend was singing this nostalgic advert jingle. I thought I'd misheard her and asked her to sing it again, which she did, albeit a little hesitantly.
"Peppery goodness?" I asked. "Are you sure about that?"
"Yes..." she said, clearly not sure.
"Don't you think 'Cadbury' might make more sense?" Realisation dawned across her face.
"Oh!" she said, "I always wondered why they sang that when they've got no pepper in them". Perhaps she had indeed wondered about this over the last twenty-odd years, but evidently not hard enough to change her mind. Women, eh?
