The story:
It was not embarrassing at all. I was listening to the song while driving home from work, and it just dawned on me, hey you sing the song wrong. The next day I check the internet, and to my amazement it was wrong.
Finally the song made sense, before knowing the real lyrics, I thought the song was about some sailor who gave his life to Satan, and everyone in the ship died.
I told my friend, and he was also shocked that the lyrics was wrong, he says that I spoiled the song for him, and that the song is now just a emo song about some guy dieing on a boat.
