I was telling a rock and roll nightclub owner who said he "Hated everything about disco," that I found the song, "Chew the hot dog" pretty funny even though I, too, did not like much disco music. The owner asked, "What song 'Chew the hot do?'" I told him that it was an old disco song by Van McCoy. He asked, "Do you mean 'Do the Hustle?'" It was not until then I realized I had misheard the lyrics. As I knew a number of musicians playing at his nightclub, he gleefully told all I knew about my lyrical misinterpretation. It took me years to live it down.
