The story:
Not embarrassing really, because I'm listing to the song on very good headphones and can finally hear her articulate the 'l' in blues (and a google search confirms it really is "blues") - but this is one of my favourite Joni songs and I've no doubt sung it wrong several hundred times. I still think booze is much more the kind of thing you might sacrifice for love. What does her version even *mean*?
