I sang my version at the top of my lungs one afternoon with my music major roommate.. She burst out laughing and said those are not the words. We had just seen Melissa in concert so I felt like I knew what she was saying. Plus I had been singing that way the whole time at the concert. I made her look up the lyrics to prove me wrong. Of course my version makes sense too. Now when I hear the song I still laugh and feel embarrassed.
