The story:

Just recently when I looked the lyrics up on an Internet Site (not this one). -- "Calling Jamaica" didn't sound all that bad to me - I mean, what about all that "there isn't a number, you can't call a pay phone"-stuff in the first verse? It somehow seemed to fit. I did, however, pretty soon realize that this wasn't quite what the singer was saying. My next idea was that the chorus is in some African language I don't know. Finally someone convinced me that the line went "Come on little child, wake up". I believed that version to be correct until last week or so.
