In the mid-1990s, the Internet was able to fill in gaps in my life caused by not knowing the lyrics to my favorite songs. I don't remember when (or where) I discovered the lyrics to Party Out of Bounds and the rest of Wild Planet (which didn't, and still doesn't, include lyrics inside), but I can't say that I was embarrassed by my mondegreen; I was probably like "OK, well now I know, and that's that." What DID embarrass me soon after, though, was the discovery that Cindy's line was part of a famous TV commercial. How could I have missed that ad? A typical kiddie and teen TV addict, I can remember lines like "Ring around the collar," "The flavor says butter" and even "Winston tastes good..." but "House-A-Tosis" must've snuck by me. I STILL feel deprived. So why "How's the tofu?" Well, it sort of makes sense in that the song's about the B's crashing a BAD party. Fred finds the icebox empty. Strike one. Kate can't find the punch. Strike two. Serving tofu as an hors d'oeuvre at a party without beer or punch? Ewwww. Strike three. This party's out of bounds!
