I'm a high school student living in South Korea, and work part-time tutoring youngsters in English. I sometimes treat my students with pop songs such as this 'Tiny Dancer', translating it for them along the way. Usually, if I can't understand a passage, I slur it over, but this passage I was absolutely sure. That's because I thought this line was a reference to the times that Elton John lived in Russia. So I told my students that this line reflected the American fear about the Russians during the cold war period, since they were a little paranoid Russia the same way they are paranoid about Al-Queda now. Unfortunately, one of my students was so interested that she went and looked it up on the internet. Since then neither her nor the other students will ever let me forget that embarrassing mistake.
