The story:

I was all of seven or something and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was on the radio while I was riding in the car with my mom and singing along. I knew Sgt. Pepper’s L.H.C.B. very well but I never knew what colitis was. As I sang it, my mom, being a medical technologist, says, "What did you say??? Do you know that colitis is a colon disease? I said “No” and “What’s a colon?” Then, “What’s a kaleidoscope”? My poor mom had to tiptoe around psychedelics and try and explain to me what kaleidoscope eyes were. Explaining a colon and what it does was the easy part!
