The story:
My kids (aged 6, 4 and 2) adore this song, and often sing along to the video... But I was disturbed by the use of the unattractive modern slang phrase "hitting me" {meaning "sleeping with")... as in "I'd hit that'. Such a tacky line for an otherwise cute song, I railed.
My wife agreed, and between us we bowdlerised the lyric (for the kid's sing-alongs) to "you'd be with me", and hoped the kid's wouldn't pick up on the 'real' "hittin me" lyric.
When I stumbled across the actual lyric on the web (and confirmed it via multiple searches) I deservedly felt like a complete wally...
