My sister and I were singing along with this in the late 80's and I blasted out my version, which made perfect sense, because a viper is a snake, and I just thought-- oh well, I'm not sure what I thought. After she stopped laughing at me, she told me the REAL lyrics and we re-played the song. She was right and I had to "eat my words."
