My friend Jon and I were racing through the night on Route 93, returning from a hike in New Hampshire. As we headbanged our way down the highway listening to the Metallica self- titled CD, between songs we delivered on earlier threats that we had made to each other, vis--I had threatened to sing the Love Boat theme continuously, while Jon had threatened to subject me to a medley of Erasure songs. It was in this atmosphere of mutual abuse that Jon reminded me, while the song was playing, how I had thought Metallica was singing "Sinatra and me" rather than "Don't tread on me." I was not embarrassed however and swung into a rousing chorus of "Sinatra and me" as Metallica played on into the New Hampshire night.
