I was in high school and the song was newly released. I was tooting it all over town. On break at work I wanted to show off for this girl who worked with us so with an air of teenage superiority I asked a guy who spoke Spanish what El Condon" meant. When he didn't know I started hypothesizing that it might be a reference to a 16th century nobleman. Someone in the group finally realised that I was taking about Delta Dawn.
