I was singing at the top of my lungs and wiping the tears from my eyes while in the car with my sister. She told me the real lyrics and I tried to convince her that I my lyrics were correct. So, We went online to find the REAL lyrics...*blushing*...I was sooooo wrong.
It changes the entire meaning of the song when you think about it this way. I thought this was a sad song about a woman who had been living a life of prostitution.
I even CRIED each and every time I heard the song because I thought about how awful it must have been to be a prostitute selling herself to men who would never love her.
