Not so much embarrassing, but I listened to a friend of mine singing it back in the 90's and I told her, "Wait, WHAT are those lyrics?" She said them again and I was soooo glad that I didn't sing them with her. I'm sure she would have looked at me like I had 3 eyes or something.
