The story:
I knew the lyric could not possibly contain the line, "Like a haggis in my eyes," given the seriousness of the subject matter, the lyricist's writing style, and the utter absurdity of such a line. (Still, listen to the song, and you can hear "haggis in my eyes" quite clearly!) I did sing the lyric as "I guess it stuck on her" in front of friends before I knew what the song was called, however.
