The story:

Being a public schoolboy (i.e. one educated at a
public school, which is categorically not a
scummy chavvy state school), and with all the
problems that single sex education entails (I
never spoke to a girl until I got to
university!), I feel they are speaking to me on a
personal level.

I feel I am such a fool boy, for mishearing
though.
