I contend that I misheard this with dignity. Listen: David Byrne pronounces the word 'wheel' distinctly differently each time, at least on the live recording I have. So I thought he was making some strange simile alluding to the great size of a whale, such that there are probably wind currents in its stomach. After a few years under this impression, I decided my interpretation was probably wrong and searched out the correct words.
