| Song | The Star-Spangled Banner (Click for more) |
This is from the book Ramona by Beverly Cleary. On her first day in school, Ramona hears the national anthem and thinks the lyrics are "dawnzer lee light" thus leading her to assume a dawnzer is a kind of lamp that gives off lee light. Later, when it is dark in the house, she suggests turning on the dawnzer. Her sister Beezus is confused, as are her parents. Ramona then states that they sing about the dawnzer each morning and that it gives off lee light. Eventually, they realize she is thinking of opening line in the Star Spangled Banner and that she misheard it.
